ANTIOXIDANTS IN COSMETICS
What are antioxidants?
What are natural antioxidants?
We often hear about free radicals, but what are they?
These are molecules that naturally form in the body as a product of metabolic processes and to defend us from viruses and bacteria. In stressful situations, but also due to poor diet, radiation, excessive sun exposure, pollution, smoking, drugs, and alcohol, dangerous amounts of free radicals can occur, with the risk of damaging cell DNA and promoting aging.
It is the antioxidants that our body naturally produces that counteract the action of these harmful molecules, but when they are in the minority, they cannot prevail.
By introducing antioxidants through diet, or in our case, applying them through cosmetics, we help to combat skin aging.
What are natural antioxidants?
Let's look at kiwi, green tea, pomegranate, blueberries, red fruits, grapefruit. Avocado, carrots, tomatoes, cocoa and chocolate, apricots, grapes, cauliflower…

We could go on and on listing the fruits, vegetables, grains, and all the substances that nature offers us to combat skin aging, did you know?
In our company Valtassobbio Canossa, we are committed to discovering and cultivating foods that reflect these characteristics, to expand the rich properties of our line: Lumea cosmetics.
So far, the number one antioxidants in our fields and creams are blueberries. The antioxidant power of blueberries is due to their flavonoid content, strong antioxidants that combat skin aging.
These small fruits are also used to soothe red, fragile, and sensitive skin, protecting its balance and strengthening natural defenses. Their virtues are refined in improving microcirculation, protecting capillaries, strengthening them, and stimulating venous return, thus counteracting fatigue and heaviness often felt, especially in summer.
Blueberries are rich in vitamins and minerals useful against couperose thanks to their astringent and refreshing properties, and they also counteract dark circles, as the well-being of the eye area is a blemish that depends on circulation and retention problems.

Where can you find it?
Blueberry extract is contained in the Lumea face serum and the Lumea anti-age cream.
Specifically designed to protect against aging, stimulate microcirculation, and help sensitive skin, they are enriched with blueberry, in addition to having a strong regenerating power thanks to snail slime, elasticizing due to the effect of argan oil and grape seed oil. The hyaluronic acid and collagen contained in them help to hydrate, tone, and plump the skin, filling the decline of collagen and hydration that the skin undergoes beyond 25 years, progressively increasing.
And you? Do you follow an antioxidant-rich diet or use them in skincare?
